Infill: Faerie House 2

The weather has been catastrophic for the faerie house. Many events of rain - torrents of rain -   as well as the scavenging critter, weakened the infrastructure. Sadly, my repairs did not have anything firm to hold on to.

I will say here that I do not know why I am so committed to this thing. I will also say that making it was a blast. If this is a second childhood, I am all in. And I have better tools than when I was a child.

I started to plan how I would remake the faerie house with wood when it was clear that it was failing. Ingenuity had to make up for a skill shortage. I needed help cutting the pieces. I did the assembly myself.

This is the result, before installation.

The mailbox. It opens.

The window "boxes," are also acorns.

The inside. The hammocks are hung because faeries can fly; not sure if you can make out the utensil in the acorn bowl. There is a knitting project on the go and a few chicks for company.

Installed. Hedgehog, Frog and Dog are very pleased with the new structure.

What Happened At The Faerie House?

I have felt pretty chuffed about how well the faerie house has withstood the various weathers. Snow, cold, rain: it endured them all. But something happened in the last few days. It is only after some consideration, I have come to think that I cannot blame the weather.

Here is what it looked like a few days ago. The outside walls are covered in camel hair. That is a bit peculiar perhaps, but faeries use what they have.

It must have looked interesting to some critter who was making a home. Today the house looked like this, stripped. Also, one of the felted bunnies was gone:

For about 10 seconds I thought things were over for the faerie house. Then I gathered supplies. Now the walls are covered with rocks and bark. I found the little birds, but one rabbit is still unaccounted for. Thankfully, Dog and Frog are still fishing.

The faerie house lives on.
