Advent 1

The participants in the conversation about advent worship were clear about the elements of darkness in this season. Words like struggle, loneliness, and environmental degradation came up, as well as this being the darkest time of the year. 

I made a big darkness. I made it layered, with different densities and shades of fabric. Darkness can be deep and dense; it can also be opaque with light coming through. It embodies radical need.

The bright spots or stars, which will increase over the weeks, letting us emerge from the dark and representing the advent themes : the defiant choices of hope, peace, joy and love.
