Introducing Katharina
This is a photo of my grandmother, Katharina, taken in Russia when she was about 16. I have always really liked this photo, and have wondered what she was thinking in that moment. The course of her life was in for a tumble -- the kind a revolution causes; this was taken before that trauma.
Her story stands, safe from alteration. The photo, however, I have used as the basis for some creative activity.
The photo is printed on card paper. In order to maintain the integrity of the paper, I had to be careful about how many holes I made doing the embroidery.

Merit Badge
There is a woman who lives down the street who does an amazing job of clearing her sidewalks. I decided that it was time for some recognition and made her a merit badge, which I delivered anonymously.
