Repurposing

For a very long time I have been trying to figure out a way to display my 'Woman With A Black Dog' tiles. I think I have got it.

I stuck magnetic tape on the back of each tile, and repurposed duct strapping, like so:

The strapping is 18 inches long and requires 2 screws at each end. I have the blisters on the palm of my hand to prove that I installed them myself. I do have an electric drill but in cases such as these, I prefer to make mistakes more slowly.

Then I put the tiles up. If the adhesive on the magnetic tape is sticky enough this is going to be super. Of course if it isn't there are alternatives: white glue or a glue gun.

Slow Progress

Slow progress is fitting when lichens are the inspiration. This piece is nearly 4 feet (1.2m) in diameter.

A Book for the Big Leaving-the-job-you-have-done-for-a-long-time Transition

This pocket book (6 1/4" x 4 3/4", 16cm x 12cm) is for collecting the scattered thoughts one has at the point of transition. One page has the title "Things I said I would do if I had more time." Other pages have quotations. There are biking and hiking trail maps for Edmonton, a few pics of my art, fiction and non-fiction suggestions, and useful information like latin phrases.

Encouragement Book

This is a small book (6cm x 7.5cm) meant to tuck in the hand or a small space. It will hopefully give the recipient encouragement as well as knowledge that others are walking with her.
