Yarn-bomb Maple Leaf #9 - Vienna, Austria

I left the leaf in a small garden behind the Vienna Rathaus.

It was on the other side of the Rathaus from where the large Weinachtsmarkt is.

I felt it was a small place of calm in a very busy city. The Rathaus itself is a massive neo-gothic building and 

embodied a lot of the grand architecture in Vienna.

Yarn-bomb Maple Leaf #8 - Asilah, Morocco

Here is the story of The Maple Leaf. Rhonda gave it to me last Christmas, with the request to leave it somewhere on our travels. I brought it to Morocco.

In Asilah, we considered the Medina wall. We also considered Omar's carpet bazaar (amazing Berber carpets).

And then we hit the right solution. Emma and I did a calligraphy course. Mr. Haddari was a great teacher, and an amazing calligrapher. We gave it to him as a present from Canada. Even better, he hung it in his studio!

Yarn-bomb Maple Leaf #7 - Colonia Valdense, Uruguay

This leaf went to Uruguay to help celebrate a wedding. February 1, 2020 was a beautiful sunny day. The wedding was held at the bride's family country 'farm'. We gathered in the evening when the temperature was milder. It was a non-church, non-state wedding with audience participation, about which we had been warned ahead of time. There were contributions of words, poetry, and music. I took my turn close to the end when it was starting to get dark. 

"I am from Canada and I am a knitter, " I said. "Somewhere on the grounds I have attached a maple leaf that I knit to commemorate this celebration. You won't be able to find it this evening, but it will be there for you to find when the light returns. Many congratulations on this beautiful day."
