Crown Binding for 'Regular' Paper

   

Crown binding is an accordion fold with fold-over flaps that hold in the pages. After some trial and error I arrived at the right proportions to make a binding that fits ordinary 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. I hope that it will increase the potential usefulness for the recipient.

Accordian Book with Signatures

I came across a store recently that was going out of business. They had some amazing promotional posters in their recycling box; they were on offer and I chose a few. This book is made from a small part of one of those posters. The cardboard was a bit heavy for the folds, but also helped keep it sturdy.

'Guest Book' - One piece of paper

From the Notebook

Every week day I spend 20 minutes with a sketch book. If I didn't have that rule, I would spend 20 minutes a year with a sketch book. There is the freedom of not needing to have a very important idea in the 20 minutes/day plan. Mostly I draw stuff, work out formal design ideas, plan little books. Today I had a colour idea that lingered from yesterday: I love cerulean blue, and better yet in relationship to brick red; I love trains and graffiti.
